Please read this description fully before proceeding. You must send us your turntable for us to modify. Please DO NOT buy-it-now, instead please contact us to arrange to return your turntable and we will send you an invoice once the work is done. The price shown here is for our modifications but there are other options we can explore to get your turntable working which may be cheaper.
Do you have a fancy Heljan or Walthers turntable that now refuses to move? Don't worry you're not alone... they are troublesome!
First things first, lets try a few things and see if this will get it working for you...
If you are seeing Err1 on the display it means the rotating turntable isn't making a good electrical connection to the control board. Try lifting the bed and cleaning the copper coloured circular tracks and sprung pins in the centre (our Loco Go wheel cleaner is ideal for this!)
Err1 can also occur if the IR sensor at the end of the track can't see the turntable edge. Make sure it's securely fixed and the front lens is clean.
If the turntable appears to try and turn then you might have got debris in the gear mechanism. Carefully lift the turntable out of the well and turn it upside down. You'll see two white gears at one end. Follow the silver shaft back to a little grey box which houses the motor. At the opposite end of the motor box you'll see what looks like a large thin grey gear. This is a little optical disc. Turn this by hand (you'll need to do this many, many times!) and you'll see the white gears slowly move. Take a careful look if any of the teeth have debris in them which could jam. Also check the base of the turntable well.
If all this doesn't fix things you may have damaged one or both of the PCB's. We're happy to quote for replacements if you like, however we offer no guarantees it will fix the problem and from experience their control boards are quite unreliable.
So we offer another solution!
We can modify your existing turntable so it still rotates electrically but now by just pushing and holding the arrow buttons on your control box. There's no automatic positioning or calibration, you just hold the button until the turntable is in the right place, then release the button to stop it. The turntable rotates slowly both clockwise and anti-clockwise so it's easy to "jog" into the right place. You'll notice it turns a bit slower than before making it easy to position.
Our modifications still allow your turntable to work with both DC or DCC track and it's wired exactly the same as the original.
In order for us to do this modification you will need to send us your turntable (you don't need to send us the well, just the removable track) and the blue or grey control box. Please use the original packaging if you still have it.
Once we have completed the modifications you will see no difference from the outside, it's all cleverly done inside. Just connect it up and press the buttons to rotate the turntable. As before the turntable can be powered from DC or DCC.
You'll also find our new solution isn't so "fussy" about the slip ring mechanism in the middle being perfectly clean!
Our unique modifications are only carried out by ourselves in our workshops and completely bypass all the original circuitry so no more reliability problems!

Please note we can now cary out this modification to either the blue or grey control box turntables from Heljan/Walthers. The turntables with a grey control box version goes by various part numbers 89011, 89111 and 89014 but they are all the same control boxes.

We always obtain a proof of posting and this will be emailed to you with your order acknowledgement.
Standard Economy Delivery
- Orders up to £24.99 cost just £3.95 for our standard economy delivery (3-5 days).
- Orders between £25 and £99.99 are £4.95 (3-5 days).
- All orders over £100 are sent post free (3-5 days).
24 Hour Tracked Delivery
You can get your item sooner by choosing our 24 hour tracked delivery option for an additional £3.95 on top of the costs above.
Courier Delivery
Some items can only be sent by courier either due to their size or contents. This will be explained in the product description. The delivery costs are the same however the delivery may take a little longer (up to 10 days) All courier deliveries are tracked and you will be sent a tracking number.
International shipping
Not all items we sell can be sent overseas usually because of their contents. This will be noted in the product description. If you order these items for delivery overseas we will not be able to ship your order and your payment refunded.
Europe
Standard International Shipping (Tracked) = £14.99 for all orders
Rest of the World
Standard International Shipping (Tracked) = £19.99 for all orders
Returns
You may return any item for a refund or exchange with 30 days of ordering. After this time we are unable to offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging and with all the included parts and extras.
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase. Please include your order number with the item.
Please do not send your purchase back to the manufacturer.
There are certain situations where we are unable to accept an item for refund or exchange:
- Book with obvious signs of use
- CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, video game, cassette tape, or vinyl record that has been opened
- Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
- Any item returned to us after 30 days since ordering.
Refunds
You must contact us in the first instance to arrange your refund or exchange. Please email sales@hobbytrax.co.uk with details of your order number. We will then provide details for the items return.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment, within 5 working days. We are unable to make a refund payment to a different card to the one you paid with.
Late or missing refunds
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.
Exchanges
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email to sales@hobbytrax.co.uk with details of your order to arrange your exchange.
Shipping
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
